What is Southeast Surge Zone Hockey?
Surge hockey is a 2-year pilot consisting of 6 A-ZONE’s, beginning the 2025-2026 season. The intention is to offer a higher level of hockey than is currently offered within the W.O.A.A and to align with the OMHA's vision of hockey in Ontario.
Each zone will be the new home of Representative hockey in the W.O.A.A.
What divisions are offered in the Surge Zone?
Each zone will consist of:
8-A divisions; U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 & U18 (U17 & U18 combined)

What arena’s will we have to travel to for practices?
Ice allotment will be spread through the Drayton, Harriston, Mount Forest, Howick, Listowel, Monkton, Milverton, Wallace, Listowel and Palmerston. At this time, we do not know what the schedules look like, but we are working with all centres and municipalities closely, and we hope to have finalized by the start of tryouts.
How will coaches be selected?
We have a coach selection committee that consists of one representative from each feeder association. They will review all applications and reach out to selected candidates for an interview. Coaching announcements will be on or about February 15, 2025. We are looking for quality coaches with experience to fit the higher-level hockey. Non-parent coaches are highly recommended and considered an asset.
When will tryouts begin?
Tryouts for both A and B will be in May in Harriston Ontario.
A tryout will begin once AAA and AA tryouts have concluded, with B tryouts once A teams have been selected.
U18 A & B tryouts will be in September to allow for Junior tryouts and releases.
There will be a cost for tryouts ($100.00) Following the OMHA Evaluation Guidelines
