Registration for the 2025/26 Tryout Season is Now Open!

Southeast Surge Hockey Club is excited to announce that registration for the 2025/26 tryout season is now open! We are dedicated to delivering competitive Rep A and B Minor Hockey for our home centers: Listowel, Minto, Mount Forest, Central Perth, Drayton, Howick, and Wallace.

Team Divisions

Rep A Division

Single birth year teams from U10 (2016) to U16 (2010) and U18 (2008 & 2009)
Team size: 17 players

Rep B Division

Multi-birth year teams for U11, U13, U15, and U18
Team size: 15 players

If a player is not selected for a Rep A or Rep B team, they can return to their respective feeder association for local league programming.

The Southeast Surge is committed to providing a competitive and fun atmosphere. Our experienced coaches bring a wealth of hockey knowledge to lead player development. Here’s what we offer:

Rep A Teams: Two 1.5-hour practices per week, plus home and away games
Rep B Teams: One 1.5-hour practice per week, plus home and away games
Custom home and away jerseys with your name, plus home and away socks (yours to keep)
Transparent team selection process during tryouts

We expect players to bring commitment, work ethic, skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for the game. Expectations may vary slightly based on coaching philosophies.

Season Structure

20 league games against 5 other WOAA zones
A Teams: ~2 practices, 1 home game, and 1 away game per week
B Teams: ~1 practice, 1 home game, and 1 away game per week
Game lengths follow WOAA and OMHA rules
Up to 5 tournaments at coaches’ discretion (excluding qualifiers like International Silver Stick or OMHA Championships)
Option for exhibition games against neighboring A zones
WOAA playoff format to qualify for OMHA Championship weekend

We’ll utilize top facilities in Listowel, Harriston, Palmerston, Mount Forest, Milverton, Monkton, Drayton, Howick, and Wallace for games and practices.

OHF Open Borders

Starting in 2025-26, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) has lifted residency restrictions for Representative hockey at U10 and above. This means players can try out for teams in any zone or association if they’re willing to travel. The Southeast Surge has no limit on the number of imports allowed on any team.

Tryout Dates

U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 Rep A: May 3–11, 2025
Body Checking Clinic Held May 3rd, 2025 during pre-skates for U14/15/16
U11, U13, U15 Rep B: May 12–17, 2025
U18 Rep A and B: Evaluation ID skates in May 2025; pre-skates and tryouts in September 2025

Tryout Fees: $100 for A and B combined

Pre-skates: $40 (only for players registered in the zone for 2024/25)

Projected 2025/26 Season Registration Fees

U10-U18 A Teams: $1,850 per player
U11-U18 B Teams: $1,450 per player

These are registration fees based on per-player expenses. Additional team fees (e.g., apparel, tournaments, dryland training, power skating) may apply at the coach’s discretion.
