Game 2: Surge vs 49ers
The Surge faced off against the Midwest 49ers for the second time this weekend, this time in Listowel, and the game delivered non-stop drama from start to finish.

Ryan got the start in net and was tested early, turning away shots to keep the game scoreless. Kaleb opened the scoring for the Surge, giving them a 1-0 lead that held through the first period.

The second period was a parade to the penalty box. Bennett was sent off, and shortly after, Kaleb joined him, leaving the Surge to defend a 5-on-3. The 49ers capitalized, tying the game at 1-1. Later, a string of penalties gave the Surge a brief 4-on-3 advantage, but neither team could break through. After two periods, the score remained deadlocked at 1-1.

The third period brought heartbreak and heroics. After a tap save by Ryan, the 49ers poked the puck in to take a 2-1 lead. Despite relentless effort, puck luck wasn’t on the Surge’s side. With 1:54 left, the Surge called a timeout and pulled their goalie. The gamble paid off—Levi buried the equalizer to make it 2-2. But the 49ers stormed back, scoring with just 41 seconds remaining. Down 3-2, another timeout was called and the Surge went empty net again. In a stunning finish, Levi struck for his second goal with 28.3 seconds left, tying the game 3-3.
