Evaluation Process has Concluded
Thank you to all Players, Families, Coaches and Evaluators

Our Inaugural Season team selections have concluded.

The Surge Executive Committee would like to Say Thank you

The tryout process for our kick off season has concluded. As an Executive Committee we have learned a lot and would like to share a few key points with our Players and Families.

Passion, Skill and Positive Attitudes: Team Surge was privileged in having approximately 280 players skate for our teams within the A and B divisions this season. As a new association, we experienced a great amount of passion from our players and families both on and off the ice.The display of skill, talent and work ethic from our competing skaters was refreshing. Seeing young people strive to be their best, compete and challenge for roster spots was exciting. Thank you to the parents who brought their players out, as well as those who contributed, stepping in to run a bench, time clock, or the numerous other tasks it takes to put our players on the ice.The attitude around the rink was very communal, with so many centres coming together, it was great to see the positive support. Our players showed great sportsmanship, and positive attitude every time they stepped in the arena.

Minto Arena Team: As an association we want to say thank you to our Minto Arena team. They assisted in many ways, all while trying to maintain great ice for our skaters. As an executive we often had last minute asks, they handled them in stride. The facility and ice was maintained very well, even with some non agreeable temperatures this past week. Thanks for being a great host.

Team Staff and Evaluators:  As an organisation starting out, its often challenging finding enough volunteers with the right credentials to operate a great hockey program. Team Surge would like to thank our coaches, team staff, and evaluators for running a great spring skate. Teams often had 5-7 people surrounding the tryout process, working to check all the boxes, and provide a fair process for selecting teams. Many of these participants were non parents, volunteering their time for the love of the game, and community. Thank you for your contributions, our players and families definitely benefited.

All the best to our teams for the upcoming season. To players that were released, thank you for the work you put in. Our selection process was challenging and difficult, often times creating splitting hair decisions between players and goalies. We hope you continue to grow and develop as great hockey players and even better people.
